A former St. Claude Avenue service station designed by architect Walter Teague reopened as Galaxie over the weekend, a taqueria blending styles from Oaxaca and Mexico City that makes its own masa for tortillas. Developer Patrick Finney, one of the owners of popular Marigny restaurant The Franklin, has been working on the historic renovation of the former gas station at 3060 St. Claude Avenue since buying the property in 2018. Ken Jackson, who also runs The Franklin, will run the restaurant day to day alongside chef Hank Shackelford, formerly chef de cuisine of Warehouse District favorite Cochon Butcher.
