If you're considering playing bar dice for the first time, bartender John Mattiassi of Shanghai Kelly's has some advice. "Don't start. It's a slippery slope. You're playing a one-dollar game, pretty soon it's 20 dollars." he said. He's not kidding, a four-player game of Liar's Dice escalated from a dollar buy-in to $20 side bets minutes before he says this. James "Big Dog" King, longtime proprietor of The Black Horse London Pub, agrees with Mattiassi. After splashing a die off the bar top of the smallest bar in the city, he warns that "dice smack is the best smack."
