It’s no easy feat renovating a 99-year-old Marin County restaurant like Sam’s Anchor Cafe, especially in the small town of Tiburon. “During the process, people would randomly walk in, check it out and ask questions,” co-owner Conor Flaherty said with a laugh. “People take an ownership to Sam’s.” The waterfront property was closed for nearly six weeks to accommodate the construction. It reopens to the public on April 18 following a redesign spearheaded by ROY, a San Francisco design firm.
